The Opel Manta was a medium-size rear-wheel drive coupé built between 1970 and 1988. The Opel Manta A was built between 1970 and 1975. The Opel Manta B was built between 1975 and 1988.

In 1982 the Opel Manta B received a facelift. The facelifted model was called Opel Manta B2. Consequently the pre-facelift model is often referred to as Opel Manta B1.

Different versions and motorisations were available. The top model - rally models and other special versions not taken into account - was the 2.0 litre Opel Manta GT/E or GSi.

The Opel Manta B GT/E was the mechanical base for the Bitter Rallye.
